Rolling stock specialists join Aurecon

22 November 2011 - Aurecon, has appointed Chris Hoskin and Ahsan Khan to help develop its rolling stock capability across Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Aurecon’s Transport Services Leader, David Ness said, “Aurecon has one of the largest and most experienced rail design teams in Australia and a very strong and proven capability designing and supporting the delivery of major fixed rail infrastructure. Developing our rolling stock capability strengthens our service offering in the rail market and allows us to provide our clients with total, integrated rail engineering capability.”

Chris Hoskin has a broad range of experience in vehicle procurement, product design and development. He works actively with customers and has led new train procurement evaluation teams, and design projects, both in the modern and heritage rail industry. He holds particular expertise in passenger rolling stock strategy and redesign and holds extensive global rail experience having worked on rail projects in Asia Pacific, the UK, Europe and the USA.

“Chris’ experience on high profile procurement projects such as Waratah, Matangi and Auckland’s new EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) projects, as well as Transport for NSW, RailCorp 2040, Western Express, and Queensland Rail Traveltrain strategy development projects will bring additional depth of expertise to Aurecon’s team and clients,” said Ness.

Chris is also a Chartered Engineer and Honorary Secretary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in New South Wales.

“Ahsan Khan will bring experience in heavy haul rolling stock engineering including project and contract management, rolling stock asset creation and acquisition. He also has experience in regulatory and energy efficiency opportunity laws, assisting clients with energy assessments, opportunity identification and detailed opportunity analysis,” said Ness.

Equipped with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Engineering Sciences, Ahsan has spent over six years working within the Queensland rail industry which included major build projects such as acquisition of 5020 and 4400 class locomotives.

“I am excited to further my career with a renowned engineering consultancy and look forward to harnessing and developing my skills to provide rail solutions to Aurecon clients,” said Khan.
